Pennhurst

Pennhurst has a horrific and tragic past. We went into this investigation to show the spirits that still reside there: compassion, respect, acknowledgment, a chance to tell their stories and let them know that they aren’t forgotten and that those in the present are sorry for the injustices that were done to them. We caught amazing evidence at this location.
Devon building
In the shower area we did several EVP’s sessions as well as used our SLS camera. With the SLS we were able to catch a figure taking a shower! You can clearly see the figure moving and washing different parts and stepping out and drying off.
We did several different EVP sessions, and this was one of the clearer male whispers we captured

While walking on the upper floors we did hear a door slam on a lower floor and at first thought maybe it was the security guard checking the property. We set up a recorder and left the building to explore the tunnels. When we got to the bottom floor, we saw boot prints from a water puddle (it had previously rained) and immediately thought there was an intruder. We called our tour guide and she came over, along with the security guard, so they could clear the building and ensure our safety. They cleared the building and didn’t find anyone. We continued with our investigation and later into the evening our tour guide told us that they reviewed the security tapes, and no one entered that building. So, the door slam we heard along with the boot prints were confirmed to be paranormal. She said it was the first documented boot prints found at Pennhurst!

Also, while in the Devon building, we left a cassette player with prerecorded questions and a digital recorder to capture responses in one of the nurse’s stations: we captured this long EVP with knocks/taps. These noises happened in the middle of the recording for over 3 minutes. There is no electricity in the building, and it was quiet and calm summer night outside.

Philadelphia Tunnel
In the tunnel under the Philadelphia building, we did an EVP session and you can hear what sounds like a ball constantly bouncing as well as a male “cough” towards the end of the clip. We were sitting in complete silence and did not audibly hear the noise or cough. We did hear a disembodied voice of a girl, but it did not come out very clear on the digital recorder.

Pennhurst playground area

Outside in the grass area is some old playground equipment. We decided to set up our Boo Buddy,
which asks questions and reacts to touch/temperature changes, and a digital recorder to record
responses. We left the area during the session so we wouldn’t contaminate with our voices/noises. We
recorded these 2 EVP’s, which both contain several responses.

*The first audio clip has several different responses: the first one is a response to the Boo Bear asking
about siblings and we hear ‘Steven” then several seconds later is “whoa” which is then followed by a
sound (possibly a cough/dry heave). And The 2nd clip we think says, “whisper rabbit” The boo buddy is a
bear, but maybe they mistook it for a rabbit…and the Boo Buddy is very loud when it talks!*

*The first audio clip is clearly the word “whoa” and the 2nd clip we think says, “whisper rabbit” The boo buddy is a bear, but maybe they mistook it for a rabbit…and the Boo Buddy is very loud when it talks!*
Mayflower building
This is rumored to be one of the most haunted buildings on the property. In the music room, we tried lots of different techniques and trigger objects. We set out several toys, and we also played nursery rhymes. We received 2 noises during the EVP sessions when playing music.
The first audio clip sounds like loud banging (not heard by us at the time) and the 2nd sounds like either a knock, or a footstep (also not heard by us at the time)
We sat for a while in an upper floor open area and did several short EVP sessions. We had 2 things happen: we heard a disembodied voice say “shhhh”and caught it on the recorder along with our reaction to hearing it.

Karl also had a nail thrown at him. We were sitting in the middle of an open room so we weren’t near anywhere where something would have fallen, and he said he felt it hit him with some force like it was thrown intentionally. Here is a clip of us reacting to the nail and picture we took of the nail, and a picture of his arm where you can see the white dust from the nail.

What you are seeing is the white on my arm, which was the corrosion from the nail that was thrown at me.
