Apache Death Caves

The story behind this particular cave in now Two Guns, AZ happened when the Apache and the Navajo tribes were at war. An Apache raiding party destroyed a Navajo encampment taking with them their supplies and three girls. All who remained at the camp were killed. When the Navajo learned of this they sent several warriors to bring the girls back. The Navajo tracked them till the trail went cold. However, the Apache raided another Navajo encampment and the Warriors picked up their trail till it went cold again. One of the Warriors got off his horse and felt the ground and noticed it was hot.
The Apache was camping in an underground cave. Once found, the Navajo found the entrance and killed the Apache sentries and lit the vegetation around the mouth of the cave on fire.
One Apache raider braved the fire and asked what could be given out of forgiveness so the others could be saved. The Navajo only wanted the girls taken. When the Navajo Warriors found out that the girls had been killed, no Apache survived the cave.
We went in with respect of both tribes and asked the spirits of the Apache to speak to us. We gave turquoise as a peace offering. There were two E.V.P.'s that we recorded: one which was a rock throw that we did not hear it with our own ears, the other after giving the peace offering, we hear a thank you. This isn't going to put on the site because it is very muffled and whispery, and frankly as a re-recording doesn’t play well.
